astro nautico – atlantics vol. 2 [download]

Astro Nautico - Atlantics Vol. 2 coverWhere the party at? It’s at your place, sponsored by Astro Nautico who released their Atlantics Vol. 2 compilation. Where Vol. 1 was actually a 7-track EP released in 2009, now the Astro crew outdid themselves on the second volume by making it a massive compilation spanning 43 tracks. That’s over 2 hours of contemporary beat-related music. For Free!

This’ll probably be the first time I’ll be done writing before I reach the last track on a release, but after listening the first couple of tracks it’s already clear that this is 300mb worthy of filling up your free hard drive space.

A quick glance at the tracklist reveals contributions by Pixelord, aaronmaxwell, RBDN, Spaceghost, Mute Speaker, Time Wharp and many more. Of course the collective themselves is on there too, with single tracks by Obey City, Kuhn and Paul Jones, and the intro/interludes/outro are done under the Astro Nautico moniker.

A.N. prides themselves in doing explorations in electronic music, putting the money where their mouth is with “Atlantics Vol. 2″. It’s all there: beats, bass, dub, sub, juke, garage, downtempo, etc, etc. Sampled stuff & electronic based tracks, beattape & full length, original compositions & remix-based, force bangers & moody instrumentals. With 2 hours of music it’s just way too much to go into specifics.

To put out a compilation of this magnitude is a bold move in itself, but cramming it with a shitload of artists that probably only locals and soundcloud crawlers have heard of and delivering only top notch quality is just incredible. Whatever objections you might have to internet free releases, Astro Nautico makes good for it. Way good.

Since bass and beat music is still on the come up, this compilation will no doubt be a future staple release used to explain the genres. Simply put: you need this. Get it for free at Bandcamp and hook up with Astro Nautico through Twitter or Facebook. In the meanwhile you can check out 4 tracks below.
